One question many students come in to ask about is renewing their books and checking due dates.  While it is perfectly fine to come in and ask a library assistant about these things, there is actually a way online that you can find these answers!  Here are the steps to access your personal library account.

  1. Go to the libraries website at library.loras.edu.

  2. Under the “My Personal Library” tab, click on “My Library Account.”

  3. Enter your Loras username and password.

From there, you can see what items you have checked out and their statuses.  You can also see what holds you have and what possible charges you may owe from overdue items.  If your item is close to its due date, and you’re not finished with it yet, you can easily renew it from this account page!  There are many other things you can do from your personal library account, such as request Interlibrary Loans or place holds on items.  (If you need help with that, see our post about ILL.)

Here’s how you place a hold on an item online.

  1. On the Library’s home page, use the search bar to pull up the page of the item you want to reserve.

  2. Check its holdings.  If it is checked out, underneath the “Check Availability” tab of the item select “Place Hold.”

  3. Fill out the information required.

After you’ve done this, you can track the progress of your held item on your personal account.  As always, feel free to ask the librarians and library assistants for help!
