How to Support the Loras College Library

Donate Books to the Library

book donation locationbook that have been donatedbook going to better world books

De-cluttering your book collection?--consider donating to the library!

We will either add the books to our library collection, or we will send the books to Better World Books, where used-book sales benefits us, other libraries, and literacy programs worldwide.

For more information, or to arrange a drop-off, contact kristen.smith@loras.edu.

Examples of notable book donations:

  • a collection of 3,718 military history materials
  • a collection of James Joyce books
  • a collection of 34 recent novels

More about Better World Books: Books that the library weeds from our collection, and donated books that are not added to our collection are sent to Better World Books, a used-book vendor which donates books and a percentage of profits to world literacy programs. If you're in the market for used books (including textbooks), try Better World Books and benefit libraries and literacy around the world.

Things to Know about Donating Old Books to the Library

Just because books are old, doesn't make them valuable. Sometimes they are, but  more often they are not. AbeBooks, which sells used and out-of-print books, offers a way to check the value of your old books.
