Who can get a card?

How do I sign up for a card?

  • Loras College Students Faculty and Staff
    • Bring in your Loras ID, you’re already in our system
  • All others:
    • Fill out the Request a Library Account form
    • Present your library card and picture identification the first time you come to the Library.

What services can I access?

  • Loras College students, faculty, and staff
    • Check out any of the materials in our collection
    • Request materials from other libraries and pick them up at Loras College
    • Use Library databases on and off campus
  • All others
    • Check out any of the materials in our collection, EXCEPT reserve items
      • Due to the pandemic, Library access is limited to the Students, Faculty, and Staff of the college. Community patrons may request an item using the Request a Book or DVD Form and selecting the Drive by at Shipping and Receiving option. 
    • Use Library databases ON campus - not available during the pandemic.

Interlibrary Loan checkout lengths are set by the lending library and usually range from 2 to 6 weeks. 

*In order to facilitate the return of items before students leave at the end of Fall and Spring semesters, due dates will be shortened to the last day of classes. 

May I renew my materials?

May I renew my library materials?

Yes, but with the following exceptions:

  • Reserve items many not be renewed
  • Government publications may only be renewed once
  • Interlibrary Loan renewal requests should be emailed to ill@loras.edu

To renew your materials, go to the Library's home page (http://library.loras.edu/)

  1. Hover over My Personal Library
  2. Select My Library Account
  3. Enter your network username and password (the same combination you use to log into your computer)
  4. Click the renew button next to the items you want to renew
  5. A note will appear above the box letting you know if you were successful or not

How do I renew materials if I'm not a Loras community member?

If you have any questions, please call 588-7189 for assistance.

Which items cannot be checked out?

  1. Bound or unbound periodicals
  2. Microfilm or microfiche
  3. Materials from the Center for Dubuque History or Loras College Archives
    • Patrons need to make an appointment with Heidi Pettitt to gain access to these materials
  4. Materials from the Roseliep Room or the Rare Book and Special Collections Room
