One thing one campus raises more questions than anything else: the printers!  Starting up a new year, it is important to learn ARC Printer side viewor re-learn about these machines now so that you’re a pro by the time those big research papers come up.  Then you’re not scrambling at the last minute figuring out how to print them. Here are some instructions and tips to help you print at Loras.

You come into the library and reach the printer.  You wonder, How do I connect to the library printer?

Step 1: On your keyboard, press the Windows” key and the “R” key at the same time to open your Run menu.

Step 2: Type in the following: \\prnt01.

Step 3: A catalogue of all the printers available on campus will pop up.  Right click on the one titled ARC-PublicPrinter-HPM605x and select Connect.

This printer should now be connected to your computer and available to print from.  If the printer does not show up right away, you may need to restart your computer to find it.  Use these same instructions to access printers elsewhere on campus.

Now that the printer is connected, you may try to print and nothing happens.  You think, The printer isn’t working.”  Here are a couple of things to look at before you give up in frustration.

1.  Did you put your username into the desktop next to the printer?  Most printers on campus require you to input your username on the desktop next to the printer and select the document you want to print rather than doing it automatically.  Input your two initials and your I.D. number to access your print jobs.Desktop computer in library

2.  Re-check that the printer you are trying to print to is the correct one.  The library one is ARC-PublicPrinter, so using any other ARC printer will not work.

3.  Are you connected to the Loras Wifi?  To print off the printers on campus, your computer cannot be connected to Loras-Guest.

4.  The printer may be out of paper, which is solved simply by asking the library employees to refill it for you!

And if you ever have any more questions about the printers, the library staff behind the desk are always ready to help!  Don’t hesitate to ask!
