Places to Study - Details

In these areas, please study quietly:

  • In the study carrels facing Keane on 1st Floor
  • In the study carrels area facing Keane on 3rd Floor
  • In the comfy seating area facing Keane on 4th Floor
  • In the study carrel areas all along Loras Boulevard on the 4th floor

 

Comfy chairs grouped in various configurations are distributed throughout the building. Some are in stack areas, and some are in open areas. Two bean-bag chairs live on 1st Floor in the Curriculum Area.

 

There are group study rooms on every floor of the Library. They are available on a first-come first-serve basis.

Where are group study rooms in the ARC?

  • 4 group study rooms on 1st Floor
  • 4 group study rooms on 2nd Floor (entrance)
  • 5 group study rooms on 3rd Floor
  • 2 group study rooms on 4th Floor

 

There are 10 small study rooms, suitable for quiet individual study, located on the 3rd Floor. They're available on a first-come first-serve basis.

 

Tables of various sizes are distributed throughout the building. Some are in group study rooms, some are in the stack areas, and some are in open areas.

There are tables sizes that seat 4, 6, and 8 people.

Carrels are ideal for quiet individual study. They are available on the 1st, 3rd, and 4th floors.

 

During the regular school year, the library is open until midnight Monday through Thursday. Detailed information about the library's hours can be found on the Library Hours page.

The 24/7 Area, between the library and the bookstore, is open continuously while classes are in session.

 

The Library has 3 classrooms, 1 large study room, and 2 open areas that can be reserved.  Use this link to get started with the reservation process.

Keep in mind:

  • Classrooms that can be reserved: ARC 102, ARC 202, ARC 402; large study room that can be reserved: ARC 323; open areas that can be reserved are the 4th Floor Balcony area, and the Center for Dubuque History area.
  • Most group and individual study rooms in the Library cannot be reserved. The are available on a 'first come first serve' basis.
  • Classroom availability is limited. Regularly scheduled classes and library instruction classes have priority.
