From its humble beginnings as a 500 volume collection of texts from the personal collection of Bishop Mathias Loras to its current collection of over 350,000 volumes the Library at Loras College has always sought to serve the research needs and interests of the faculty and students of Loras College and its various predecessors. As the needs of our students and faculty have grown and changed so have the physical spaces necessary to house the collection. The library has evolved from a 20’ x 60’ room in a no longer existing wing of St. Joseph’s Hall (now Hoffman Hall) to our current four story, 92,000 sq. ft. building.
The Miller Academic Resource Center, commonly referred to as the Library, was built in 2002. The new building was designed with today's student and easy accessibility in mind. The Library is open to the public and most visitors can get borrowing privileges.
