Special Collections: Bible Collection
Teaching a class that would benefit from using Special Collections Materials?
The Bible Collection ranges from partial manuscript Bibles from the 12th century, through early Vulgate editions, a 1st edition King James Bible, to modern Bibles in languages from across the globe. Check out the photos of some of our collection below.
In our collection we have three manuscript Bibles. The first two are partial Bibles from the 12th century and are a Gospel of Mark and the Acts of the Apostles. The third is pictured above and is a full Bible from the 13th century.
German Incunabula Bible
The collection also includes three incunabula period bibles, including this German Bible.
King James Bible
Our 1st edition of the King James giant “he” Bible was printed in 1611 and can be found on display in the Special Collections room.

British and Foreign Bible Society
... and many languages. These Bibles were published by the British and Foreign Bible Society to allow everyone to be able to read the Bible in their own language.
