Abstract will: •	Discuss “this” study or experiment(s) •	Include methods •	Discuss results   Review/Secondary - A survey of previously published research on a topic.  •	To provide a comprehensive foundation on a topic.  •	To explain the current state of knowledge.  •	To identify gaps in existing studies for potential future research.  •	To highlight the main methodologies and research techniques.   Abstract will:  •	Refer to multiple studies Often Includes the word “review”

Types of Criminal Justice Research Primary •	Survey research: Gathering data from a large sample of individuals using questionnaires to understand trends and patterns in criminal behavior or attitudes  •	Qualitative interviews: In-depth conversations with individuals to explore their experiences, perspectives, and motivations  •	Case studies: Detailed examination of a single case (e.g., a specific crime, offender, or criminal justice program) to gain rich insights  •	Field research: Observing and interacting with individuals in their natural environment to study behavior or social dynamics  •	Experimental studies: Manipulating variables to test causal relationships between factors •	Quantitative analysis: Utilizing statistical methods to analyze numerical data  Secondary •	Literature review: A critical analysis of existing research on a topic, summarizing key findings and identifying gaps in knowledge  •	Systematic review: A rigorous method of reviewing literature where researchers use explicit criteria to identify and analyze relevant studies  •	Meta-analysis: A statistical technique that combines results from multiple studies on the same topic to draw stronger conclusions
